At Uniting Enterprise, we leverage insights through data sourced from our candidate placements and deep-rooted SAP network alongside advanced recruitment platforms like Xing and Linkedin to understand key trends across the Freelance German SAP SCM job market. This aids us with a unique vision of the market to support our candidates and clients in their hiring requirements or contract search.
Location:
Our latest findings uncovered three ‘most popular’ locations with a greater amount of Freelance SAP SCM specialists in the region compared to the rest of Germany:
Dusseldorf
Cologne / Bonn
Heidelberg
These competitive areas (in comparison to the quantity of nationwide job openings) may make it increasingly difficult for freelancers to find their next contract through regular applications or their networks. A remote role or a role with travel may be best for someone living in these regions.
With this being said, over the past 2 years, remote opportunities have been paramount, allowing more opportunities for German speaking talent outside of Germany to be utilised. Will this continue as restrictions look to be relaxed and office working slowly returns?
The locations currently experiencing a high amount of demand for SAP SCM contractors are:
Munich
Cologne
Stuttgart
Similarly to demand for permanent talent, the fastest growing demand for freelance SCM specialists is in the Ruhr Region, with a 6% growth in demand over the last month.
In Demand Professionals:
Across all S/4 HANA projects we are sourcing, 40% of the focus in on SD and MM, with PP taking a further 25%. The skill sets with the least amount of available resource are within EWM, TM, IBP and MES. SAP Data professionals are also seeing demand rise.
Tenure:
The average SAP SCM specialists’ tenure in contracts is 8-9 months, which has decreased in relation to previous years, down from 12 months + projects. With newer, and more urgent S/4HANA implementation projects moving forward, and the subsequent following of enterprises moving from legacy platforms before the 2025 deadline, many Consultants are moving to customers engaging in greenfield implementations and integrations. With the extremely high demand for this skill set, new opportunities with greater salaries and benefits are attractive to freelancers exploring new projects.
Gender Split:
The current gender split of SAP Supply Chain and Logistics consultants is comprised of 78% males and 22% females. Uniting Enterprise has recently challenged gender diversity norms within our clients SAP departments. We have displaced the regular percentage breakdown of gender placements, reflected by our recent 6 months placement data; 26% female 74% male.
